DDP or Quick Service plan with DS age1
My sister is booked to stay at AKL with free DDP - she's starting to wonder if the amount of table service credits you get might be a bit too much to use - as they'll have a 1 year old with them. My question is - has anyone done DDP with a 1 year old and did you find it a bit much to drag a 1 YO along to sit down meals every evening? Or do you think dropping down to a moderate resort with free quick svs might be more realistic with a 1 year old?
Thanks Edited at 03:30 PM. |

We stayed at POR with our DD who was 20 months. And we purposely upgraded to DDP and barely had enough TS credits in the end.
We did about 6 character dining and a few meals with our friends and she absolutely loved them all. It was the best for her as their was no quing to meet them and her autograph book is full up. |

With young kids I would definitely recommend DDP. I found QS meals a bit stressful trying to keep track of 2 kids whilst carrying trays of food. It was great to sit down for table service & have your food brought to you. Also, Americans seem to have meals at a much faster pace than us. Some people find it too fast but I love it with young kids who just want to get moving. They often bring the bill with your desserts so you can pay & get going quickly if you choose so. I would mix it up with a few character breakfasts & maybe a 2 credit restaurant so they do not have a sit down meal every night.

DDP is perfect with kids that age.
We actually used the majority of ours for lunch. We found an hour sat down in air conditioning at that time was a perfect respite for the whole family. Most of them went on character buffets which the kids loved but we could never have justified the price! Saved queuing or using FP+ for characters as well. QS with younger kids is hard. They’ll still experience it with their QS credit element but negotiating queues and balancing trays with tiny kids is a right ball ache! Edited at 06:55 PM. |

We haven’t had the dining plan since before having kids. We almost always do a TS lunch then QS dinner back at our resort. It is so much easier to have someone bring everything to you than trying to find a table and highchair in a busy QS restaurant with a small child in tow.
Next time will be our 6th trip with an under 2. I have booked POR with upgraded dining plan specifically because of how we eat, even though it was the same price as AKL and OKW. The QS at POR is (imo) much better than AKL or OKW. I like eating at the resort in the evening so that we can go straight back to the room and start getting ready for bed. |

Thanks for your replies - makes sense for her to stick with DDP the way it's explained by you all. I'll show her your replies, thanks again, all really helpful
