Tastes delicious but the custard is basically a runny mess. My mum said that you should use packet custard ! The bright yellow stuff 🤢
Surely thats not right?
How do you make a gorgeous, creamy custard that is more firm for a triffle?
Thanks
I like the taste of the tesco finest pot in my trifle too... I whip it with some double cream makes it thicker and light. You don't need a separate cream layer. (I like sponge fingers in the jelly).

Or you can use Birds...

I love trifle, always mean to make one but with everything else you eat at Christmas it seems to get forgotten. Probably as its just 2 of us.. You get through more food with a family.

Always strawberry jelly, jam roll sponge and fruit cocktail in the bottom... Yum

Birds custard has nothing to do with custard in it! Make proper custard and add a little extra cornflour
Trifle is what I do best! (Apparently)

If like me you add about half a bottle of sherry you don’t worry about the custard thickness! 🤣

I make my custard with double cream egg yolks sugar cornflour and vanilla extract. I use Delia’s recipe for trifle. Very calorific but delicious 😋
