Fish, pork and chicken all ditched if use by date is missed.

Other stuff is checked to see if it’s ok. Mind you I don’t know the last time we missed something out and had to sling it.

And as for Best Before dates, we’ll they’re just open ended😄😄
I know I couldn't use it for breakfast at 5am either, but that's more to do with the fact I'd still be fast asleep

Depends what it is, but we are both on the same page in this house.

Milk- depends how long it’s been open and how it smells

Mince- depends how it looks, but we have used it one or two days after the use by before

Veg- we just go off how it looks, we’ve used it quite far past the date before

Chicken- always use on the use by date or before

So yes generally speaking, apart from chicken, we usually end up using past the date as long as it looks okay and smells okay.

Now on my android phone the person and the fried egg emoji are displayed as a "nurse"

But on the Dibb it translates to person equals fried egg - weird

I’d say...

Use by ... don’t use after.

Use before ...will be better before use before date, but could still use.

But have to say if it looks ok (nice normal colour) and smells ok (not odd) then we’d not be worried about it.
