Day out from tier 3 to tier 2 confusion.

So we have a Xmas day out planned in a tier 2 area, we can travel there in a day so no need to stay overnight. We live in tier 3 and Iím so confused. Some people say you canít travel out the tier 3 area but this is what the guidance says:

-you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible
-avoid travelling to other parts of the UK, including for overnight stays other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through other areas as part of a longer journey

The first point doesnít clarify Ďin your areaí and the exceptions in the second point donít say Ďvenues or amenities that are opení

Alton Towers have been really clear and said they are only open for local people however a lot of other places are being very vague and saying check the guidance. I have and Iím still no wiser! I donít want to drive to the attraction, the kids think weíre going on a day out and then get turned away as weíre from tier 3 but all they say is Ďcheck the guidance and if youíd like to amend you caní Do you think itís the attractions way of saying Ďwe donít care where you come from?!í The guidance clearly says you can travel to a venue hat is open. (With no mention of only in your area)

Why canít it just be clear?!

I had lunch booked at our wedding venue for my OHs birthday. Theyíve cancelled us today as theyíre tier 2 and weíre tier 3.

If itís outside it should be okay as we are going to an outside thing hopefully that evening.

Does the tier system still apply for the 5 days over Xmas... is it just the household mixing that has changed?

I can't see them turning you away... and will they be asking everyone to prove where they're from then checking which tier that area is in? It would possibly be a mammoth task!

In the guidance here in section 7 it says you need to follow the rules in your tier !

gov.uk/government/public...ristmas-bubble

7. Travel and overnight stays with your Christmas bubble

Between 23 and 27 December, you may travel between tiers and other nations of the UK if necessary to meet with other households in your Christmas bubble or return home. Once at your destination, you should follow the rules in that tier.

The advice is not to travel. We were in tier 3 before current lockdown and didn't risk going to Chester zoo in tier 2. If I'm honest this was due to the weather rather than restrictions.

Iím so sick of staring at 4 walls Iím off to climb a mountain in the Lake District on Wednesday and I donít give a crap whether itís in tier 1,5, one zillion or tier from planet zozo. Iím walking outside on my own in open countryside and will not give nor receive.

Itís actually Gullivers at Milton Keynes so is all outside. I have seen the laplanduk threads where I think theyíre going back on themselves. Iíve seen some attractions saying they are only accepting new bookings from certain postcodes and cancelling bookings from tier 3 postcodes and Iíve seen some say as long as you follow your tier restrictions (so for us solely our household, which it is), you can visit a different tier. Itís next weekend so not in the Xmas break.

If you follow your tier 3 restrictions then it says you should only travel out of your tier for essential reasons .
Alton towers were turning away people from tier 3 areas last time.
