As this happened outside school I'd also contact the police. It's certainly not at typical thing at my kids school and both schools in our town come down very hard on pupils misbehaving when to or from school and/or in uniform

I’m a teacher and it’s certainly not common. We’d exclude a student if they hit another. If it happened outside of school, we’d inform the parents to tell the police. Parents sometimes report things like this and abusive messages between children, but when it’s outside of school we are unable to do much about it.

I'm a teacher, definitely not normal occurrence. I'm glad you called the police, it's simply not acceptable to hit people, regardless of age or gender.
Hope your lad is alright, must have been scary. |

Still not acceptable and don’t think we should just accept
it and bat it off as it’s a “daily occurrence “ If an adult punched another adult in the mouth like that we wouldn’t accept it.

If a man (or woman) punched another man (or woman) it would be assault and indeed a police matter... age does not change the law.

Thank you for the replies. I too am shocked at some of the replies but understand that people have differences of opinion. DS is softly spoken, polite and very sensitive. He doesn’t get into arguments or fights and this has really shocked him and he’s very shaken. I just do not think it’s acceptable this day and age for a child to be assaulted and physical injury caused, no matter who it is inflicted by.
If one of us was waking down the street and was randomly punched in the face by someone else would we not be reporting it to the police?! |

I hope you're both ok op. I'd be so upset if it was one of my boys.
As for phoning the Police - thats what they are there for, to report crimes and assault is a crime. It's definitely not a common occurrence at the school I work at or where my sons go. |

Oh no I’m so sorry for you & your son, at least there was someone kind to intervene, I’m sure the School will do the right thing & suspend the students involved & hopefully the Police will take it seriously too.
Hope he is ok tonight 💕💕 Take care xx |
