Staying on site eating off site
On-site we are looking at Pop or one of the All-stars - if we went for these how easy is it to get to places to eat offsite (no dining plan)? Not looking at hiring a car so guess would need to be walkable or a short cab ride away to be cost-effective?

Hi
Nowhere off site will be walkable, apart from mcdonalds which is apparently from all stars. I think if you use lyft / uber you will be looking at around $10 each way to Crossroads area at LBV which I think is your nearest restaurants.

Nothing is walk-able in Disney as most of the roads don't have sidewalks, there are however loads of restaurants around which are a short uber away which will be a few dollars there and back.
Best practice is to find some places you like the look of and use uber estimate to get some rough costs. You could always go to Disney Springs and uber from there as there are more restaurants around that area but it depends how much time you want to waste catching disney buses. It will certainly be cheaper to get taxi's than rent a car and pay for parking at pop too now if you only want to stay local. |

If you are going to pay for Uber for a round trip every day for dinner then you may find far nicer accommodation off site but close for less money so overall get better value.

All Stars to offsite restaurants is very close by Uber. The area you want to look at is west 192 NOT Crossroads though. You will see the area described as Rolling Oaks or Formosa Gardens on here. It is far closer than to Disney Springs from All Stars. It is not walkable and there is no public transport though.

Not sure if you'll be happy staying onsite and eating offsite. Not an easy proposition unfortunately and the Ubers will start to add up.

We caught the bus to Disney Springs then walked up to crossroads, a selection of restaurants there. Took about 10-15 minutes at a stroll

You're going to be around $10 each way to get to Rolling Oaks area where there are a fair few restaurants.
Restaurant options there: Applebees Millers Hooters Olive Garden Sweet Tomatoes On the border (pish imo) Bahama Breeze Red Robin Longhorn Steakhouse Panera Chipotle Over at Margaritaville which is just along from there, they have several restaurants. Rock & Brews BurgerFi Fords Garage El Jefe Tequilas Yeomans Cask and Lion It will add up considerably and I doubt that you would save much in the long run. |

We are doing the same as you in August. We’re staying at Coronado springs and because we only booked a few weeks ago we missed the free dining. We don’t drive over there and because we’re only doing the Disney parks, prefer to stay onsite. I have had a look on google maps and Uber estimates and Rolling Oaks is the closest area for us to get to.We are planning on going on our first full day for something to eat and then we will go to Target and stock up on cereals, drinks and snacks and we probably go back later in the holiday and do the same again.

You could also get delivery? To be honest, it will likely be cheaper just to eat onsite at less expensive places.
