what is wrong with salesmen!

So we are after new kitchen doors - Magnet man comes, measures up "properly", gives us a price, we pay our deposit, arrange the fitter and look forward to new doors in a couple of weeks.

We ask for a kit list - nothing appears...
DH then measures up and sizes against a photo he has taken of the quote

4 of the doors are completely the wrong size - and they don't even do the size in 2 of them!

Deposit quickly returned...

Next - Visit to company who initially supplied kitchen.
Give him the original quote from 2007 and the CURRENT kit list requirements and have a discussion that its only the doors, end panels and plinths that we need - NOT carcases!
Salesman emails over a quote for a whole new kitchen

If my DH quoted like that he'd be out of a job

Clearly Magnet has a training problem! Some companies, particularly direct to public sales churn through staff.
Successful sales people are highly skilled. My husband is a salesman (in a completely different job to this) and he's very talented.

Selling is an acquired skill built up through experience sadly not in this case

Apparently the Magnet bloke has been there for over 10 years!

I hear my DH on the phone - he's not really a salesman but an account manager and he'd be ashamed to behave in such a way!

Years ago i had a CAD done by Magnet for a kitchen. When it was done, it didn’t even look like my kitchen. Missed appliances and a door where I didn’t have one. Plus a stupidly high quote.
We went elsewhere for a quarter of the price.
Our latest kitchen is Howden and we are very pleased with the quality. DH fitted it all.

We had Hilary blinds fitted 6 years ago. Cord on the kitchen one broke a couple of months ago. We called them and asked if they could find the original order and we’d buy a new one. They said this wasn’t possible as it was too long ago and we’d have to contact the local salesman for a new quote.
He turned up and despite us having told him we only wanted the kitchen same as we’d had, he turned up and bought all his samples in and wanted to sell us new blinds for the entire house. He had the right hump when we refused to even look at them

When we were looking for a new kitchen, we went into a showroom. Sales advisor approached and asked what kind of kitchen we were after. We told him. He replied " that'll be out your budget, you'd be better looking at this style!" and pointed us to another part of the showroom 😡😡😡

We had something similar in an Estate Agent’s many years ago when we were looking to buy our last house. The office in question was in a quite up-market part of the Wirral, and DH and I were in jeans and t-shirts, so not smartly dressed at all. We spent a few minutes looking at the boards of properties in our price range, then the agent points to the opposite side of the shop and says “The houses for UNDER x are over there” - we let her know we were planning on spending twice that but we certainly wouldn’t be spending it with her and promptly left.

Had the same problem with Wren; gave over detailed measurements for our new kitchen and the salesman just seemed to put his own measurements in. We also left a deposit. When we got home and he sent us over the plans everything was wrong. Got our deposit back and went to B&Q instead.

Still had some trouble and went back and forth a few times but got it ordered kitchen fitted 4 weeks ago but had to send one door back three times before they got it right.

I am really not surprised we have just had our 4th kitchen in as many years (various properties) bought from and installed by a local independent trader. Not only is the service far better and friendlier and the fitter really cares but was at least 25% Cheaper than wren.

If you go to the big companies you will never get decent service and rarely the best price go independent help the small local traders get a better price and the service you deserve.

Go to large company pay more, lower lever of craftsmanship and get the service you deserve
