Solterra Resort Good or Bad

Hi Guys

We normally stay in Formosa Gardens or Windsor Hills and for one reason that won't be possible for our trip next year.

Looking around my wife likes the look of Solterra Resort as we believe this resort being a bit further away might make for a nicer experience and perhaps an even a slower pace.

Why would and why would you not stay there?

It would be good to get all your thoughts.

Cheers
Mark

Hello I’ve stayed on both Formosa gardens and solterra.

The villas in solterra are newer and more modern amd the lazy river has opened since I stayed there but would happily stay in either.

I think I prefer the location of Formosa gardens as it’s so close to Disney but some of the Villas at solterra are lovely.

We are actually booked in solterra for our trip next year as we needed a very large villa and solterra offered the best option,

We stayed last year, it’s a lovely resort and the villa was really nice too.

It did get busy around the communal pool but we were always able to get sun beds, so can’t have been too bad.

What I will so though, is that the villas themselves seemed quite busy, lots of cars parked on the road, which we haven’t noticed in any other villa communities, so several families staying in each, and it was quite noisy at night with parties going on, even though there’s supposed to be an 11pm noise curfew. Obviously we might just have been unlucky with our particular spot.

We didn’t do any parks so location wasn’t an issue, and I can’t remember exactly, but it wasn’t too long a journey to get to the Rolling Oaks restaurants. We used a toll road as the other route did seem to back up with traffic. There’s also closer restaurants with Champions Gate a short drive away.

The only reason I wouldn’t stay there again is to try somewhere else

We stayed there 2 years ago. It was fine for the parks, you have the nightmare of the 192 but you can go up old lake Wilson road, which also has a publix in a reasonable distance. You can go the other way to the champions gate shops which are less than 5 minutes drive. We didn’t try the pool bar and as others have said the comunnal area got busy but manageable. The villa we had was stunning

We stayed there in December 2019.

The resort is well maintained and the security is spot on.

There was plenty of construction still going on back then but the resort is huge so didn't affect our stay.

I couldn't get into the pool area, the code I had wouldn't work on the rear gate, I gave up. Did look a nice area, only one other person was in there, but it was December!

Some of the villas are huge. We were renting an ensuite room within a 12 bedroom place, the parking situation isn't great due to the size of the villas. Many of the roads are end to end cars and the drives fully stacked. Our villa was quiet but there were a few that were having loud pool parties. If you were next to one of those and expected a nice chill out on the lanai...

Distance from the parks was OK but highly variable depending on the traffic. A few times I4 was at a standstill so all the backroads get jammed up quickly too. What was sometimes a 15 minute drive took an annoying 60 minutes crawling along.

Purely due to the variable traffic we wouldn't stop there again, prefer somewhere closer like Windsor Hills. We had the chance to stop there in March 2020, we stayed at the Rosen at LBV instead, again purely down to the traffic issue.

It seems that parking and pool party’s are an issue, I’ve read the same in a few reviews.

Plan B it is
