CA - Possibly, Maybe, Now Definitely! Day 11 - A Lazy Day...by LV Standards!

Day 11: Sunday 10th September 2017

Trip Index here

A fairly quiet day after a few hectic days and early starts.

Alex stopped in bed whilst myself and Jo had a dummy run to the car rental returns, topped up the car fuel, and onto Premium Outlets. Bargain in Swarowski (apparently! ) and few other make-up purchases were made before heading back via Walgreens for a hot dog lunch.

Alex and myself then headed up to the rooftop pool for the first time during our stay, where the temperature was a balmy 33 deg C but we managed to snag a couple of beds in the shade. One thing very noticeable about LA is the drinking culture - on visits to Florida, alcohol is noticeable by it's absence out on the street, but it is freely available in LV. There were a group of lads in the pool with a couple of 25 packs of Bud, but they weren't rowdy or anything - just enjoying themselves.

After several hours of relaxing, it was then back to the room to try and get all our belongings into the cases, at a weight suitable for our flight tomorrow. We just about managed to get the two large cases within the 50lb allowance, with our medium case well under weight (unlike ourselves by now! ), and our carry-on case a mere 8kg.

View from the bridge over to The Aria

For this evening, we strolled through the shops at the Aria then down to the New York New York for a nosey around. Nothing we hadn't seen before - a casino, more gambling and a couple of bars, with the now to be expected Disney-esque mock New York streets and eateries. Whilst we were hoping to eat in the NYNY, we couldn't find anywhere that took our fancy, so we ventured outside to the arena behind the hotel where we found another California Pizza Kitchen.

As we had enjoyed this restaurant in Hollywood, we decided to est here. Whilst the pizzas were decent, they weren't quite as good as those at the Hollywood branch. Jo had a half salad with shrimp which was absolutely massive. Alex managed to order some Hersheys chocolate concoction for dessert that did need three spoons to finish it off!

We then continued over the walkway to Camelot for a look around another hotel, then a walk back to Polo Towers for an early-ish night as we have an early flight to San Francisco in the morning.

Sounds restful, which I expect is unusual for Vegas! Just reading your trippie has made me decide we're going on a gondola next week!

I was actually pleasantly surprised with Vegas. I had expectations of something quite tacky, but most of the hotels were done with some style. It also involved a lot of walking - I'm sure Ceasars Palace went back for a mile or so!

DD also said a lot of places look like the Orient at the Trafford Centre and she was right with the painted ceilings to look like the sky.
