My son is doing this course but a 4 year MA route. He says his Uni lectures are academic and he’s learning the practical side on placement. He’s in his third placement now and loving it. I hope things start to feel better for your daughter.

Just to say we are just in from an offer day at BGU. It has a lovely supportive feel to it,but it's not me applying. As a side note when I did my nurse training 1991-1994 new style of training project 2000. I spent much of it frustrated and scratching my head wondering if the tutors had lost the plot. Then gradually it all made sense and clicked. Being a student nurse going on the dust carts just why! Link it to the theory aspect of that module it made total sense. I'm sure if she sticks with it she will understand it and enjoy it more.

I did a childcare course at college and most of that in between placements was painting, making pictures and various other activities you would give to small children.
When I went to uni I studied early years and childhood studies and my friend, who was on the same college course, did the same course as your daughter. My course at uni was very much academic learning, psychology, social and economic aspects ect whereas her course was a lot of children’s activities, like walks outside to collect conkers and jumping off benches. It’s interesting. |

In my opinion, you don’t learn to teach until you’re faced with your own class. I did a BEd with QTS and it taught me nothing compared to being in the classroom.

As a PGCE Tutor one student said he asked an ex student what the course was like. He said you’ll spend a year wondering what it’s all about and then one day it clicks and you realise they were it all fits into what you do
