Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply to me, I was at work all day yesterday so just finding the time to reply/read. So many ideas on how to tackle certain behaviours! And that it's generally just normal puppy behaviour. Our last rescue was 10 months when we got her and was more or less over most of these stages.

She was much calmer yesterday, DH was home most of the day so he took her on a 7k and she pretty much slept most of the day. I got home at 5.30 and she had a mad half hour, and then we found a game she liked so knackered her out some more!

I will read more and reply properly later after work, but didn't want to read and run! IN the meantime, good morning from this crazy sweet girl!

Can I just say, especially as she is part lab, she shouldn't be going on a 7k walk really until she's fully grown.
You need to let her grow and her joints settle. Each walk should be under 30 minutes at this age.
Otherwise just keep persevering, she is beautiful and will settle right in

Second this. OP, you can damage the skeleton and especially so with a larger dog. It should be no more than five minutes per month of age. Please don’t let your DH walk her that far again.

I've got a working dog and it's all about brain games with Bill to wear him out. They need a job to do. I too wouldn't be going on long walks. Build up gradually as others advise. Bill is exhausted if we play games do some treat training or he can play with another dog. At 2 1/2 the puppy stage is a slowly fading memory. It was really hard with lots of lows. I spent a lot of it in tears. We now have the most amazing dog who is extremely stubborn but sleeps like a log in his crate at night. Dont hear a sound and he puts himself in when her tired or wants some sanctuary. It's his happy place not for punishment. Stick with it things will improve honest.x

We have a chocolate lab who has just turned 6 but the vet told us when she was a pup that labs are prone to joint pain and arthritis so not to take her on very long walks when she is still a puppy.

Ours had a mad time every evening when we were playing with her in the house and we had to just step out of the way and let her run

Your dog is beautiful, enjoy!

I agree with the ideas of playing games with them. Our little dog is a rescue working cocker spaniel. As well as needing walks each day she loves brain games. We hide treats around the house whilst they wait in another room, then we say “find it”. They love to razz around the house using their noses and brains to find the hidden treats. They also love to play with tug toys and play retrieving games with balls.
