Will go and have a look at the smaller plans - like the 12gb data, would we be able to use all that in the US in the 30 days?
If your planning to use google maps for directions download them offline before you leave the UK or hotel wifi for the next few legs then you only need to data for directions and traffic updates.

I believe Tesco Mobile uses O2 over here, and if your phone is locked to Tesco then you won't be able to swap to a different SIM for holiday.

Every time I go to America I email them and ask them if they do an add-on for Worldwide calls but they say its not in their plans. Would be much easier if I didn't have to change SIMs every time I go to America

I'm going to take the phone into Tesco at the weekend to make sure it's unlocked. Thanks for all the comments and help.

Might be a bit late, but I got one of these free from ATD.

You go on their site, choose and pay for a plan, get there and put it in your phone. I choose the 14 day plan for $39.99 and got unlimited data, unlimited international texts, unlimited calls in the USA. It worked flawlessly, at around 100mb speeds in my unlocked iPhone 7, and even allowed me to use a hotspot for other devices.
