Data usage
Hi all are finally in 2020 so the real countdown to October begins. We are looking at using data/calls texts and it looks like 3 is the best option.
What is the park wifi like and do 3 slow down data speeds at all. Also will 4gb be enough for a 3 sim? We will probably only use data for checking queue times/fast fast passes and topping up Revout/monzo cards. Any recent experiences would help thanks in advance |

hi, i use 3 and have not noticed any fall in speeds. it feels pretty much faster than the UK. i struggle with signla sometimes in the UK. they bounce off american mobile companies so you get the same speed and signal as most american cell phones.
4GB should be ok if thats all you plan to use. Im pretty sure i used about 3 but that included social media etc. on top of the normal park usage. 3 or EE i believe are the best packages for UK residents going to the USA.

We have always found 3 to be good.
Park wifi is hit and miss I think - there are a few black spots around.

Found three shocking like using a 2800 modem the free offering uses a 3G network not 4g unless it’s changed.
We found EE excellent and Vodaphone. WiFi in parks is Good few blackspots butbgood, and is also generally available in shops and hotels. My advice don’t buy three just for their US offering but see why your own network offers and use free WiFi everywhere Edited at 07:59 PM. |

With 3, once you clear immigration you can choose either T Mobile or AT&T (I think), one is usually better than the other, so switch over if you’re struggling.

I've only ever used wifi over there. At times in the parks it drops out but never an issue as I'm there for the rides not to browse the web.
At malls etc I manage to find free wifi to book an uber, that's more challenging but have just moved to 3 so hopefully a little more freedom at malls

I switched over to 3 before our trip in September (after some particularly frustrating wifi in May I swore I wouldn't do it without data again!)
I had no issues with signal on 3 and it worked fine everywhere

3 don’t restrict data speeds at all so no worries there. I had 4G almost everywhere when we went in March last year and will be using my 3 sim again this year. 100% recommend 👌
Personally I would get your hopes up for park WiFi.. lots of black spots and speeds are just trash due to the amount of people using it. Edited at 10:22 PM. |

Park WiFi can be phone dependant. My wife has a Samsung S6 and I have a Samsung S9+ and when we stood next to each other I would often get a solid WiFi connection but my wife had non. Newer phones seem to have a stronger WiFi area of coverage which is why you get some people saying the park WiFi is fine and others saying it’s hit and miss. Personally Last August I didn’t have any problems and could freely use the MDE app (plus what’s app, radar apps etc)
