Your previous point was that the 50 hour figure for teachers included 'extras'. It didn't. You've now switched emphasis and are saying that teachers aren't the only people who work hard which is self evident. I've checked back and I honestly can't find a place where anyone claimed otherwise ?
What job are you doing please? As I've said previously I'm totally open to the idea that there are lots of other employees on pretty average wages putting in unlimited hours that don't bring any additional financial benefit it's just that apart from teachers and possibly very junior doctors I haven't met them so far. Which may say more about the narrowness of my social circle than anything else |

Just wrote a reply and lost it. I’m not trying to argue - I have a lot of respect for what teachers do and I don’t think I worded my reply well. My point was that I didn’t think the 50 hours mentioned included optional extras, just the full extent of the job. In the same way my contracted hours don’t reflect the full extent of my job and I expect that’s true of lots of people.

The most under appreciated professions are nursing and people who work in the gig economy with zero hours contracts and very little protection.
Teaching is hugely bureaucratic but, having been a teacher, its ludicrous to say that it's harder than any other career. |
