AKL or POR?
Hi, we are booked into POR for our next holiday, garden view room with upgraded DDP. I’ve always wanted to stay at AKL and have chance to upgrade for £500. My reservation is being so far out and not having convenience of boat to DS - anyone done both and can let me know pros/cons in comparison with one another and which one preferred?

AKL is not far out, I do not know why this myth is repeated so often. It is in the general vicinity of three parks, Disney Springs and many other resorts. The park and the resorts that are furthest out are Magic Kingdom and the monorail resorts. Here is a map.
I have not stayed in either, but I would pick AKL above POFQ, although it would depend how many nights the £500 covers, I wouldn’t spend that much more for two nights say. |

I’ve stayed in both on more than a few occasions. I love the AKL and after 20+ trips to Orlando our stays are no longer parks oriented but more about enjoying the resorts and we now only ever do half days at the parks so our focus is more on the pools and surroundings. There are differences of course, but I would base your decision on how much time you actually want to spend on resort. If your answer is not a great deal then save your money, POR is lovely and is incredibly convenient for Disney Springs, you won’t be disappointed. But if you’re looking at a more pool based stay then AKL will suit you better (we actually prefer the Kidani pool though, it’s much quieter)

We’ve stayed at POR three times so know what that is like, but never stayed at AKL but always wanted to. It’s an extra £500 for a 10 night stay.

We’ve stayed at both
I preferred POR for location tbh and liked the little boat trip to Disney springs . Also liked the quiet pools at POR and quick service food court . When we go back we are staying there again .

We absolutely loved Animal Kingdom and the location was great. It feels just right and very relaxing which is what you need.

We have stayed down the road at POFQ and whilst the friendship boats are a nice change of pace they do cancel them when rain and thunder storms are predicted and can mean you need to take the. Is to Disney Springs or back to the resorts. We are going to AKL for the first time this year and it’s really not that far from the action anywhere. Work out where you will spend most of your vacation and use the resort closest to there and relax, there’s always Minnie vans of you need them🥰

If you’re going to use the hotel as a base and spend most of your days in the parks then stick to POR. If you’re planning on more rest and relaxation then definitely AKL

I haven't stayed in either but in your position I'd be seriously tempted by AKL. Looks like a great resort and you've already experienced POR more than once. If you can afford it, I say go for it.
