As an aside I cannot believe how much some people are being quoted for labour.

Neither could we, 2 companies we had out to quote were find for all the materials and santitary ware but both of them wanted £15k for the labour alone for the 3 bathrooms, and that was with nothing really being moved! Needless to say we haven't taken them up on that and are trying to find a recommended plumber!

we didnt pay that for downstairs WC, en suite and family bathroom all new materials & labour

As you know, we are having our bath removed too. I think along the same lines as you, there's room to put one back if a future owner wanted one

We are having our new shower tray the length of the existing bath, good to hear that you find it works well, plenty roomy enough I imagine!
We are having our existing single shower cubicle in the room made into storage. Can't have too much storage!
