My daughters prom was a few years back now but her dress she ordered online from boohoo, they used to have a prom section online don't know if they still do, hers was a bargain at less than 50, it cost a lot more for everything else that went with it like shies, bag, jewellery, hair etc etc

I get to escape this! My daughter is adamant that if she goes to the prom, it will be in her regular clothes! She hates dressing up for any occasion and refuses to wear dresses. The school thankfully don't have a dress code for prom. I've made several suggestions - jumpsuit, trouser suit etc and she has rejected them all. She doesn't care what her peers will say, and will do it her own way.

Plenty of cheaper options out there like Quiz , Boohoo , TKMaxx etc

Prom shop we used did a thing there you could pay weekly / monthly etc and start that Upto 2 years before your prom , so you didnt have to pay out a big chunk in one go . Also by doing this you got alterations for free .

But prom isnt a surprise , you know its coming at the end of YR11 so plenty of time to save .

It was a little mistress one she tried on! It wasnt quite fancy enough for her but was lovely!
I hadn't been for a while and it's been done up since we went, looks much better! We only came for ski pants but managed to spend a lot as bought bedding!

So did my DD20, bought from the Chi Chi website. Combined with hair & shoes etc it also came in around the same price.

Hers looked like a 50s type dress (no petticoat) cream with big blue flowers. She didn't want a long dress although they sold them too.

EDIT some are on sale from around 25

As this thread shows, you can spend as little or as much as you want to. Just depends on what you feel comfortable doing, and what you can afford. When we bought DDs last year, the average price in the specialist shop we went to was between 350-500 just for the dress, but there were also some more expensive than this. We ended up spending more than we had originally planned, but in this instance we were happy to do this. We also saw dresses in places like quiz, Debenhams, etc that were under 100. All the young ladies at DDs prom looked beautiful no matter what they chose. Happy shopping!

40 shoes and handbag Topshop
Did own hair and makeup

Can be as cheap or as expensive as you like, to be honest all girls looked great whatever dress they had on
