I think there are some tablets you can give cats which reduce stress , not sure what they are called though.

Mine often cry for attention , usually they have a present for me!

He finally stopped at about 2:30am!

While reflecting on it this morning he did have quite a stressful day yesterday (not sure what he has to be stressed about every other day ) as the neighbours had a handyman in who was drilling all day.

We do everything we can to make them happy. I’ve even given them my dressing gown and laid it on the bed as they love that.

I just don’t remember any cats I’ve ever had being this much of a little terror (even the one who brought in rabbits for me and put them on my bed when the door was open ).

We’ve got the number of a pet behaviourist but I fear there’s not much we can do!

My old boy started this at about age 17 he was going deaf, even though we live in a detached I had to tell my neighbour as sometimes he sounded like a child screaming!

Try Zylkene, it’s a natural product that chills them out, you just sprinkle it on their food. It’s expensive at the vets but I get it from a vet med supplier on eBay if I ever need it. Someone I know now gives her cat Prozac (prescribed by the vet) she says the results are amazing. She’s in the States though so not sure if U.K. vets use it

I had an ageing cat who began to start crying during the night. I took her to the vet who said it’s often a sign of deafness. Did a hearing test and she was almost completely deaf!

This makes sense, our cat seems shocked when I touch him, like he doesn’t realise I am there.

I have a very vocal 22 year old, cant say it's old age as he hasnt atop talking since I got him 😂

He loves to scratch doors to get my attention and looks at me while he is doing it. Because he is elderly he now lays on his pillow to do it Haha.

I've got used to being woken up constantly. Now he just wants some reassurance and soon settles down. Tbh I will miss it when he is gone x

One of our cats does this. He comes through the cat flap and when he finds downstairs empty he yowles, really loudly and carries on crying all the time he is downstairs and running up. Stops when he hears or see's one of us. I think he just calls to see where everyone is. I thought it was just a night-time thing but I was alone in the house and thought I would have a quiet bath and realised he was doing exactly the same as he thought the house was empty.

At least I know we’re not alone albeit a lot of the cats here sound older than ours, so it sounds like we have many years of sleepless nights because of him ahead of us!

He was a lot better last night and eventually remembered that he can walk up the stairs without meowing so there’s something.

My cats been doing this for 18 years. He never sleeps through the night. He has got much louder now that hes gone a bit deaf. He sounds just like a new born baby crying.

I have no advice, I just got used to interrupted sleep.

Mine mainly does it for attention. He just wants a cuddle or wants me to sit downstairs with him but I dpnt want to sit downstairs at 4am! Lol.

I just think, it's annoying but I'm sure I'll miss it when hes gone.
