Next year we are doing a split stay, miami 2 nights, 2 nights at AKL and then on to a townhouse.

I love staying in a villa, you have a bit more freedom and space. As much as we love the parks, we love having some "chill" time and a villa holiday for us is perfect for this.

Maybe start by making a pros and cons lost for each and I'm sure Dibbers will help with this, but it would be useful if you could let us know the age range of your group and give an idea what type of hotel you would be looking at.

And remember, it's always possible to do both and split your stay between hotel/villa as long as you don't mind packing up and moving during your holiday.

Debra,

Kids are 17, 19, 21 and 23 (not really kids!) but i think they are so desperate to go they were searching for hotels and sending me links to loads of options. I am more happy with a villa for all the reasons mentioned by Mick but since this has been a last minute decision i am having to cost everything accordingly. How prices have shot up in ten years!

Cheers Mick that helps me see thing in perspective. there will be a few days where i would prefer to do nothing and just relax in my own space. Don't know how that would go with the rest of the family mind..

Mick,

i think this trip will also be less park visits and more of a Florida "adventure" and going to see other attractions and sites.

I didn't say so earlier but we are also the "wrong" side of 70 - in numerical terms anyway not in behavioural terms.

We never do trip reports because, quite frankly, I could copy and paste our last 14 trips to Highgate Park.

In the spa first thing to watch the sun rise (our avatar photo) then 80% of the time out for breakfast. Then rotate between pool, sun, lanai for a few hours. Think about dinner sixish and we often don't know where we are going until we leave the community gates.

Intersperse with an occasional visit to Disney Springs, Winter Park, Celebration, AMI et al and any combination of half a dozen Bath & Body Works.

That sums up fourteen recent trippies.

Mick

Lots of interesting comments, we have always done villa stays but this year it’s just to two of us and we are staying at endless summer and Aventura, with no car either, so totally different experience. If there were more than two of us I would think we would do a villa again, but the hotel experience I am looking forward to is for these reasons...

Not having to travel to the parks each day, and face an hours drive back, stuck on the I4.
Actually not being on the I4 at all.
Not having to drive, can have a drink.
Variety of restaurants etc on I drive, just hop on the itrolley, or get an Uber.
No parking fees.
Not having the responsibility of a villa to look after.
Being close enough to pop back from the park or volcano bay for an afternoon nap.
Being able to pop out to citywalk in the evening, and being there within 5 minutes.

There are lots of downsides aswell, I will miss my villa washing machine and sitting out by the pool watching the sun rise, but I’m hoping it will be ok! Fingers crossed I don’t hate it!

Just proves that there as many valid and genuine reasons for staying in a hotel as those for a villa.

As others have said it's what works best for you and your party.
