DS got what he expected on his Btec, a better result in Buisiness and Media but lower in Geography. He had his place at Uni changed from conditional to unconditional a couple of months ago but the lower result in Geography would have meant a shortfall in UCAS points!
Luckily we dont need to appeal as he will be starting at Salford in September.

Daughter has got her place at Birmingham and very pleased with grades. It’s been a very stressful experience, particularly yesterday and this morning when UCAS website was down.
Good luck Choppy Girl with the appeal and to anyone else who is going through that process. I am deliberately not watching the news as I can’t stand to listen to him trying to justify such a mess. |

My son also took a BTEC and got top marks. Only just received his grades now. Feel for all the other students who didn’t get their 1st choice or the grades they rightly deserved.

DD got into her first choice of uni with A* A A C. Considering an appeal but which grades do they use mocks or the CAG? Confused

Well, A Maths, B Biology and C Chemistry. School have "strongly recommended" that she appeal Biology and Chemistry - since Biology was downgraded 1 and Chemistry 2 grades from teacher recommendation (they recommended 3xA! )
- the real and horrible resultant of being a great student in a historically crappy (but improving) school... don't ever get taken in by the "it doesn't matter where they go, cream rises to the top" - it does, but it doesn't count for diddly long term... So appeals process here we come... feels like we are dusting off the boxing gloves ready to do battle! |

Ds got mixed results - Physics was B but expected A, chemistry B was as expected, but the one that stings the most is maths, he got a D and was expecting B. His teachers have already suggested to appeal before we did so fingers crossed we have some luck with it.

My daughter was predicted 3 As and a B. Got one A, two Bs and a C. So downgraded in three from her mocks and predicted results. Furious about her Media B as she only got one B in two years of essays and two lots of mocks. Got an A* for her coursework. Last years media students at the school did poorly and they have all suffered on this course. Got into her Uni as doing four meant she got a high points score overall but it’s taken the flow off her day.

I've just got in now, and must say, I've been thinking of you all anxiously waiting on results this morning...
Huge congratulations to those happy with their results! On the other hand, I'm so sorry about those who aren't happy and were expecting higher grades, and sorry about the hassle they are being made to go through now with appeals etc! Should not be this way! What a pathetic mess this whole business has been. I'm sat here wishing you all the very best of luck going forward!

Well done to everyone. It’s such a stressful time and the situation really doesn’t seem fair on the kids really. How can you fail something you’ve never even sat an exam for? Hope anyone who is appealing wins and everyone gets the uni and work places they wanted.
Our eldest is waiting for his GCSE results next week but after the Scottish and a level results I can’t say I’m that optimistic. |
