Sending toiletries by courier - help!

We need to send Christmas presents to my sister and her family as we are unable to meet up due to current restrictions. There's a mixture of different items, including a couple of toiletry gift boxes and some shower gels as well as clothes, sweets, etc. But every courier service seems to say these are excluded items (despite the fact they were delivered to me by courier?!). Any suggestions?

They do seem to be iffy about aerosols,and from what I understand this is something to do with if the parcel has to go by air,and as you say you had them sent to you by courier,if it is in this country I would just send them and just put gifts on description

Have you checked Parcelforce? I need to post my friend a Christmas parcel and it includes some gin miniatures and Parcelforce are the only company that will accept alcohol. It’s much more expensive than Hermes, DHL etc. though and it had to be dropped off at the Post Office.

Try Sendmybag.com. I've just used them to send suitcase to my son in Spain, they will take parcels too and great prices.

parcel2go.com allow you to check multiple couriers and their restrictions.

Most of the UK couriers say liquids aren't allowed, especially alcohol, but generally all liquids - if you read the exclusions. Royal Mail/Parcel Force will allow them, though there are volume restrictions on alcohol (not shower gel type stuff, other than zippy bag it).

That said, I have before sent liquid via Hermes and it was delivered and my beer delivery usually comes via Hermes, but liquids are on their prohibited list.

If under 2kg, Post Office is generally the path of least resistance. Otherwise, go onto the specific courier's own website and check there as it may be that Parcel2Go have just run all the exclusions into one (though they claim to be specific).

Or, just send them in a separate package the same way so it matters slightly less if they don't get there - everything else still will. I really don't know how well they check unless it's leaking.

There are no restrictions on cosmetic aerosols for flying ( in the hold). It's more likely due to people not packing them correctly.

Anyway I doubt they would be going via air if sending to a UK address.

Thanks folks, I think it’s going to have to be Parcelforce, it’s just so expensive compared to others. Maybe I will just send the toiletries with them as suggested and the rest can go by courier.

Order from Amazon for delivery straight to the recipient for free !

They even gift wrap for a couple of quid! Mr pressies are always sent directly, saves so much time and hasstle.

Liquids can be sent via Royal Mail. Up to 2kg will cost £3.10. There are restrictions for aerosols but body sprays etc are fine. Same as perfume etc.
