It broke my heart watching it. I suspected it would but it was so sad to see people ostracised as recently as forty years ago 😢

I would like to think it shows things have changed a lot now (which they have) but it made me very sad nonetheless.

The acting and script were absolutely brilliant.

Well certainly didn't laugh much after first couple of episodes. I read up and Jill Baxter is based on a real person and that real person plays her mother. What a heroine!

I’ve just downloaded the series. Can’t wait to binge watch it. My friend said Olly Alexander is mesmerising in it.

I wish we were more accepted (as many posts on here prove we are in some quarters but certainly not all ) but times are changing, the AIDS time in the 80’s/90’s were some of the worst and with Section 28 (that comes into play later in the series too ) but posts like yours really are wonderful. Thank you again xx
What a lovely man you are. Please dont thank me. I just hope and pray, that people can just accept you, and other gay people for the people that you are. After having read your many posts on here I would be proud to call you a friend.
I will have to watch this week by week so cant binge watch it, but I hope we see people being more accepting. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Take care and be safe xx Jo

Not sure who he is but the guy who played Gladys Pugh really stole my heart and head (maybe same ?) - I guess I understood him the most

Thank you Jo

I wish I had watched it week by week in a way. It certainly has its moments and I hope you enjoy it - but it is heart wrenching throughout (as it reflects the truth and real life back then)

Its really down to folks like you that we live in such a more accepting and welcoming UK today so Thank You 🙏 xx

This is the person that I taught. He is as wonderful in real life as the character but nowhere near as quiet! Callum Scott Howells.
