TUI Melbourne airport
Looking to see if anyone has ever flown into Melbourne before?
Changed our tui holiday to next year when they’ve moved to Melbourne instead of Sanford. Looking online seems to be even smaller than Sanford |

Not flown there before but been looking into it as we fly into there next year with Tui too! Glad transfer are included, sadly it will mean a 2 hour coach journey most likely but time may be saved in immigration compared to MCO

Orlando Melbourne International (as it is called) has very few flights especially at the moment - only being served by Delta and American from Atlanta and Charlotte. It will be interesting how they deal with the Tui flight arrival - shouldn't be too busy.

Looks like TUI are linking this with their cruise business which will be using nearby Port Canaveral. Assuming this is going to be a TUI group move, it won't just be UK flights but also those from other countries - all coming in on the same day(s) to link up to their cruise ships.
If that is the case, it will be interesting to see what happens when they get more than one large plane arriving at a time.

I wonder if they’ll be operating Marella cruises next summer? Some companies have cancelled for most of this year already so maybe their Caribbean winter programmme will be a non-starter.

Pre Covid Melbourne was going to increase the number of flights dramatically. They have even made major road improvements to connect it with I95. I have no idea if plans have changed.
I make the journey to a specialist physical therapist right near the airport at least monthly. It is almost always just under 1 1/2 hours to/from my house in the Formosa area near Animal Kingdom. This is via 429 or 528 to I95. I wouldn't advise the "direct" route via 192 the whole way. There are dozens of stoplights through St Cloud and Kissimmee and it is never quicker. Tonight at 10PM with no traffic, Sanford would only be 20 min shorter.

We are also flying into Melbourne with TUI Oct 22 & hiring a car for the first time. I'm glad you said about the 192 as i was planning on that route as it looked easier & neither of us have ever driven in the US before, but if its going to be longer, maybe i need to rethink

The only reason to take it would be if you are intimidated by motorways or desperate to avoid tolls. Personally I think all the traffic lights in the second half are more dangerous. The first section to St Cloud is through "cattle country" and extremely boring. It might actually be hard to stay awake after a long flight as it is just a straight empty road. It definitely shows you both sides of Osceola County where kids living in the shadow of Disney still get "Rodeo Day" off school in February.
Emerald Island is very close to me. If you go 429 from 528 near Orlando Airport you can avoid I4 which many on here don't like and get on 192 near Celebration.
