Also if you are heading up to do Yosemite and SF from LA the inner land route to Yosemite is very direct and doable the first day and then three nights to get two days inside Yosemite is a good time to really enjoy it.
Then go across to SF for three nights and then back down the coast with one or two stopovers( one is really a rush job and a lot of driving at 25 mph and cliff windy roads.)

That leaves you six or seven nights for Hollywood and Disney but they are far apart, you could stop one night in Hollywood and do a whistlestop, depends on how much Disney you want to do.

Trippie in progress on my sig.
Great thanks for that! We are due to land 18.55 on 13/08/14 and have now booked 3 nights in SF 14th-17th Aug, 17th- 20th at Yosemite and are in the process of deciding what we shall do with the 2nd wk. Can anyone suggest a good place to stop on that first night after we land that is on the way too SF? we don't want to go too far but would like to make a start in the right direction. Many thanks
