Visiting Disney / Universal after an operation

Hi,

I'm a bit worried. I was rushed into hospital on Bank Holiday Monday and had my gall bladder removed 2 days later in a keyhole operation. We are due to arrive in Florida on the 14th of July and I'm a bit worried.

Has anyone else had an operation 7-8 weeks before visiting. How did you cope with all the walking / queuing in the parks. And most importantly, did you manage to go on the rides. I usually love rides such as Tower of Terror and I'm worried that this won't be possible.

Its only been around 10 days since my operation and I'm still very sore inside.

Thank you.

I had surgery 5 weeks before our first trip and felt fine to do everything. However, I had a repeat of the same surgery over 4 months ago and I'm still not fully recovered. Each surgery and recovery is different and can vary from person to person so it's hard to say what you'll be able to do tbh. If you don't feel up to the more extreme rides, just have a more relaxed, leisurely trip and I'm sure you'll still enjoy it

Some airlines will not let fly until at least 10 or so weeks have elapsed.
I would suggest that you check with your airline.

Wow, that didn't even occur to me. Looking on the airline website I should be fine as it says I can fly after 5 days and it will be around 7 weeks. Will let my travel insurance know as well.

My Wife had a shoulder operation on the 1st October last year. We flew on the 27th October.

The Insurers knew so we were all sorted as that's the main thing.

My insurers would not cover me I& I had the operation within 10 weeks of going- I was however covered if I had a gall bladder issue over there. In the end, I had the operation before the 12 weeks so all was ok.

We went to Paris 10 days after I had my gall bladder out. I was still in a bit of pain but we walked the whole of Paris etc. At the time (I was quite young) it didn't occur to me to tell the airline or my insurance :o silly girl!

Last time we went to Florida I ended up having surgery over there due to an accident. Basically I smashed my wrist and had to have it operated on and metal plates put into it. Long story short I had 3 weeks in Disney after the op which wasn't ideal as I was in pain a lot. I managed to go on all of the tamer rides but didn't go on anything fast etc or in the water at all! I'm sure you'll be fine by mid July. I'm sure after 6 weeks I was back to normal but everyone is different so you'll just have to go at your own pace. Hope your recovery is quick.

I had my gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery and was fine after a couple of weeks. Didn't do any heavy stuff in those two weeks. Hubby had to learn how to operate the hoover! It's different for everyone so see how you feel.

I've just spoken to the travel insurance company and they've confirmed I'm find to go on holiday. In fact, I going on holiday next week to Greece and I asked whether I could go or if I could claim for the holiday. The agent said I was fine to go and to enjoy myself Was more concerned about Florida though
