Well that was a interesting flight to Vegas !
Finally we are in Vegas :-) and really liking the hotel New York but we only have the one night here :-(
Flight was interesting to say the least ! When we got to the departure gate at Gatwick there was a large Irish stag party still drinking beer , very loud and obnoxious and my DH said they are going to be trouble ! About 4 hours into the flight the captain announced someone had been smoking and how dangerous it was etc , in front on me were some VA crew on holiday and they said it was one of the stag party . A couple of hours later the captain said that the same person had been caught smoking again , we were one hr from the nearest airport and fire was a major risk ! And could the persons friend try to stop him ! So people starting to become anxious , the man wasn't too far from us and was getting louder and aggressive but did eventually calm down ! Then a few rows infront of us the overhead locker shot open and a huge hard bodied case came flying out striking a lady on the head , pour woman went so pale and clearly was hurt and in shock but thankfully after oxygen began to feel better , it could have been so much worse though I dread to think what would happened if a small child had been sat there . Food was vile , bar far the worst I've ever had served so we didn't eat much . Also ran out of Pepsi/lemonade about 3 hrs from landing because the stags parties on Board had got through so much . Barely saw the crew only , only one serving on tea / coffee fine not a problem we can get our own but they couldn't bring enough drinks to their crew members who were off on hols . Finally when we landed we couldn't get off till the captain spoke to the waiting police who then took the smoker away! We last saw him collecting his luggage with 2 police and being escorted to a room in the immigration hall . Turns out he was the bridegroom , the cabin crew told us he's likely to be refused entry to the USA but VA won't let him fly with them again . Immigration took about 20 mins, but we queued for over 40 mins to go through the bit where you hand in the blue / white form never ever had to queue for that before . |

What a nightmare, I'm an anxious flyer at the best of times, I would have been freaking out with all that commotion. Some people are so irresponsible, drives me mad.
Glad the lady was OK, that's terrible, sounds like a very poor flight |

Nightmare!
Im a nervous flyer and this sort of thing would really put me on edge! I really hope he wasn't allowed entry to the US! He sounds like an absolute idiot! As for the luggage flying out .. Like you said, imagine if that was a small child/baby! Scary stuff! Shame about the drink services ect as well! Immigration sounds like a nightmare too! 40 minutes for the second bit! I have never queued for longer than 10 minutes there! Anyhow, glad you made it there safely in the end! Have a great time and Ill look forward to the trip report! |

My DD gets abit anxious and I could see once the captain made his 2nd announcement she wasn't very happy about it . I tried to reassure her but she's 15 she knows what the dangers involved were .
My DS on the other hand was quite excited at the thought if the police meeting the plane I think he expected he SWAT team to be waiting for us ! I think he should be stripped of his passport , when he walked down the plane to the police he had such a arrogant smug look on his face , I suspect this morning now sober he's not feeling quite so clever . He got quite slot of abuse of other people as he walked down the plane , I think he knows peoples true feelings . My DD did make me laugh tho she said " well mum if my husband to be did that I'd cancel the wedding who wants to marry a idiot like that " ! It was a strange flight crew were obviously preoccupied with him but they were definitely more Interested in their crew member friends than other passengers , it wasn't till about 1 hr before landing they realised no one had filled in a accident report for the lady . |

Tbh I think his friends weren't doing much to help, all had been drinking before boarding because we saw them as did others .
And there were stood near us in immigration laughing and joking about it. DH wondered if they had been egging him on as some kind of stupid dare given it was his stag do . I think after the first warning he should have been moved to the back of the plane and made to sit with a crew member or something because he might have calmed down then and realised how stupid he was . |

Hope they throw the book at the idiot. He could face fine up to $5000.
And I thought that if passengers are in a drunken, rowdy state the crew can refuse them any more drinks. As for the luggage incident - this why I am totally against the increased weight for hand luggage on some airlines. We saw a gentleman have his face gashed when a heavy bag fell out of an overhead locker. Blood everywhere. Edited at 01:10 PM. |

So did I , but this lot had clearly had plenty before boarding . We saw them in the pub in the departure lounge then as I said they were stood outside the gate with pints of beer and were really loud then .
So I'm surprised questions weren't asked before they were allowed onboard. And if he was as arrogant with the police as he was with the cabin crew I suspect he might have found himself in a cell last night . Edited at 01:30 PM. |

I'm surprised she wasn't cut , it happened quick but it struck the front if her head and her face , I've never seen anyone go so pale .
We don't travel with much hand luggage but I do think the size / weight restrictions should be enforced better , we do twilight checkin and I d never had my hand luggage checked we could take 20kg on board and no one known . It was pretty scary the outcome could have been so much worse and I know this sounds silly but I'm glad my kids sit in the middle of the row and not the end . |
