I think its about time they switch them to electric. The technology is now available to put charging in the track and they could put in collision avoidance systems. This would also allow them to remove the annoying middle piece which did not exist originally. Plus they could put in the tech to do self drive by monitoring the sides of the track and have cruise control. This would be more in line with how cars are going. Plus imagine the speed you could get with electric.

But having cruise control and collision avoidance systems would ruin the whole ride. Part of the fun is that it allows you to drive the car yourself, rather than having a computer drive it for you (as happens on every other ride).
