Golf In Orlando
There used to be a few golf-related threads on this forum but I haven't seen any for ages.
Going back in September and would appreciate ideas on where is hot and where's not at this time after a miserable experience of Ridgewood Lakes, (which used to be quite good but was terrible) last time. Staying at Southern Dunes but been reading conflicting reports about the state of their greens (again) Would be good to hear from someone who had recently played there and also any other recommendations Thanks

DH played SD in June said the course wasn't as good as it was when the greens were replaced but they were working on them thinkmits a cinch bug issue again
Providence a easy 15 mins from SD via Bates Road and North on the 17/92 course was in good condition although was suffering like most Because of the unseasonably dry and hot June Falcons fire as he says never fails to impress Reunion again nip through Ernie Caludwell Boulevard and get to it that way He played a couple further South than us and Southern Dunes but don't know what ones As usual his favorite has to be Bay Hill it was his free game for marshalling at the API |

Orange County National courses are very good and Celebration is enjoyable as well.

Played Falcon's Fire in May, it was just OK, know others that have played there and really rated it. It's very well priced though so all in all I'd recommended for a cheaper round.

Thanks Helen.
I played Providence when we stayed at Watersong and wasn't that impressed. Falcons Fire was fine but it has been years since we played there and it was absolutely saturated when we did. I didn't know that the public could play Reunion? I played all 3 when Southern Dunes greens were getting redone about 3 years ago and they were very goood Much Appreciated George

Thanks for this
Yes these are on the horizon, I think though Celebration are redoing their irrigation when we are there so only 9 holes available?

Thanks for this, that is my recollection also
It was absolutely saturated when we played it and I think that's why we haven't been back

DH says Providence had the same issue with the greens as The Dunes
And has had work done one of the others he played was WinterHaven Country Club about 15 mins from us or you in Southern Dunes Apparently a new course in 2014 you might want to check it out as well |

Thanks Helen
Read an article recently about the renovation of the 9 hole course in Winter Haven and was planning on giving that a go, but not sure if that is the one you are referring to or not. Thanks again for the advice George

You can do 'Stay and Play' at Bay Hill. We have 'summer special' prices. I'd give you a tour and a shop discount but it looks like we'll be in England while you are here.
