Very sad news, but 88 is a great age. He was my mum’s favourite and we watched everything he was on and she bought all his records. We saw him live and queued up for his autograph when I was very small, and I remember him being very nice and friendly and he chatted to me.

I met him when I went to see take your pick being filmed once. He was lovely and seemed so genuine.

RIP Des. Another one of the old school entertainers gone. Always used to watch his shows and saw him in pantomime several times.

Always loved Des, especially when he was on with Eric and Ernie. Saw him live at Blackpool when I was a bairn (many moons ago).
