They enable you to use any fastpass entrance to a ride that has fastpass at any time. They come with the suites at the expensive hotels or you can buy one for the day. There are only 9 fastpass rides across both parks and some of those are open during EMH

you just walk up to the fast pass entrance and present your VIP pass and that's it? Your on the ride without queuing and without having to get a normal fastpass return time!

yes thats it - but you may still have to queue in the FP line, especially at peak times, when the parks are busy. I've been all the way back at the entrance to the FP line for BTM before - that can take over half an hour to reach the front of.

Buzz lightyear lazer blast can be an even longer wait, even from the FP line.

They entitle you to join the Fastpass queue of any ride with Fastpass, at any time.

If you are staying in a suite in some of the more expensive hotels you will get them for free. If not, you can buy one but they aren't cheap - think about £60 a day if I remember rightly?

There are only 10 rides across the two parks which have Fastpass:

BTMR
Indiana Jones
Peter Pan's Flight
Space Mountain
Star Tours
Buzz Lightyear

ToT
Rock'n'Roller Coaster
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Ratatouille

Now - if you are staying onsite you will have EMH, which means you can get to Fantasyland/Discoveryland for 8am and do Peter Pan, Buzz and Space Mountain as walk-ons anyway (definitely do this, the queues for Peter Pan and Buzz are insane usually!).

I have never seen much of a queue for Indiana Jones, or for Magic Carpets.

I've always been able to grab an FP for either ToT or Rock'n'Roller Coaster first thing at Studios. Usually Peter joins the queue for Crush, and I pop over to the FP machines and get FPs.

So that basically leaves BTMR, Star Tours and Ratatouille.

Star Tours is not too difficult to get a FP for usually anyway.

So if you made your priorities dashing to the FP machine for BTMR on a Disneyland Park day, and for Ratatouille on a Studios day, that should work.

Of course, if you have it free, then just go for it! But I don't think I would bother paying for one.

Oh, by the way - I see you are staying at the DLH, is that right?

If so, you will get vouchers for FP which can be used on any ride. I think it may be one voucher per person per day? Not sure. However, these can't be used during the afternoon (I think between 1 and 4).

On our last trip, we got chatting to an American dad and his sons on POTC. After the ride, he gave us his DLH FP vouchers for the day, as he had VIP Fastpass that day and didn't need them! So we ended up both doing Peter Pan and Buzz with those (we had four vouchers as they were a party of four). That's where I discovered about not being able to use them in the afternoon, as we didn't know!

Thank you! We have VIP passes included for the duration of our stay I think to be honest the only one we will use them for is as you say dash first thing for ratatouille and if a fast pass queue is looking quiet! I can't ride the big rides so it's more for other half so he can get on them quicker! Thank you!xx
