Looks like it was panic caused by something and caused everyone to run. It's nothing serious and the lockdown was lifted.

So basically looks like a non story

We are here now and have heard nothing. We walked through the village at about 8.45 as we walked back to hotel Santa fe. We are in our room and have heard nothing about having to stay in! Hope everyones ok.

An Escalator got stuck in the Train station that made a popping sound like gunfire, caused panic and people ran, is what I was told, but there is so much misinformation out there its hard to say what is correct at the mo

It seems as though a faulty escalator is the information that most news outlets are reporting now.

If this is the case then so many of the headlines are so rudiculously misleading!

We were in the Buffalo Bill Wild West dinner show waiting for the 9:30 performance.
There was a bit of commotion going on, and the staff seemed to be trying to figure out what was happening as they had lots of people rush into the building in a panic and weren't sure why.
They called for everyone to go in and take their seats, which we did. Then a load more other people came in and filed through the auditorium into backstage - normal people, chefs, staff.
They played an announcement saying the show was delayed but would start in a few moments.
The staff were coming round and giving everyone water, but were unable to say what was happening.
About 45 mins-1 hour later they announced there would be no show and started emptying the auditorium, first the guests who had been waiting backstage, and then the people waiting for the show section by section.
On the way out we were all checked by armed police and bags were checked too.
We came out and went to walk through the village to Sequoia, but were told to go to the station.
They seemed to be working through the Village building by building, clearing and checking. There were armed police and what looked like army guarding the route as people went in the station.
We hung around in the station for a while, where they were providing those tin foil blankets for people that didn't have coats.
No one was telling us what to do, but we saw a lot of staff leaving, and figured they were heading for the car park to go home.
Eventually an announcement came over the tannoy in the station saying we could walk to Disney hotels along the main road, so that is what we did (and wished we had done that sooner).
There were fire crew and a fire engine leaving Hotel New York as we walked last, but looked to just be precautionary. We tried to cut through to get to the lake and Sequoia but had to carry on the main road due to the construction work/walls there.
The traffic was backed up to the roundabout by SantaFe and they weren't letting any cars or buses in, only out.
We got back to Sequoia, spoke to reception and got a late check out. Had a well earned beer in the bar and went to bed.

No news on if we will get a refund for the show.

From what we could gather an escalator in the station malfunctioned and made a loud noise. People panicked and ran, which made more people panic and run... so the whole place locked down to be safe.
They seemed to have a really good process in place but we agreed we really could have done with someone providing updates and info as we had no idea what was happening or what we needed to do. A Disney staff member informing people they could walk to their hotels the back way would have been helpful.

Thankfully not a serious incident!

Thank goodness it wasn’t serious. Really scary to be part of that I should imagine. Good to hear the security measures were well set up and there was a protocol to be followed.
My DD is based at the B&B in a couple of weeks with her school so the initial reports had me a bit freaked out.
So pleased it wasn’t a horrible incident.
