Penguins encounter
Morning everyone
Just wondering if anyone has done the penguin encounter at seaworld, and what their thoughts are - is it worth booking either in advance or on the day, or should I give it a miss? Cheers

A couple of years ago I did the penguin encounter that takes you behind the scenes of Antarctica. The staff were really knowledgeable and passionate about their work. The behind the scenes was really interesting but actually going into the Antarctica enclosure was brilliant. Our host brought a couple of the penguins through for photos. Having them literally walk next to me was a highlight of my trip (I love penguins!). It was a pricy add-on (£188 for three people - 2017) so it was definitely a treat. I think there are a couple of penguin encounter options available now, depending on your budget. I can't remember how far in advance I booked but I know it was before the day. Like anything, you take your chances with availability by waiting until your visit and risk disappointment if it is fully booked.

I’ve done this and really enjoyed it.
When we did this they allowed a rock hopper, female penguin another kind I can’t remember it’s specific name and a king penguin. The rock hopper penguin was bouncing round causing havoc and a lot of fun. The king penguin was the highlight of the tour and amazing to see up close. A tip use a iPhone or your mobile camera as they seem to capture fast moving photos better than a point and shoot camera. I have pictures of everyone but me with the penguin because of this |

I did the one at busch gardens but TBH all seaworld/busch animal 'tours' are amazing. If you love the animal or animals in general you wont regret it!
