Just booked Malta for October

We have just booked Malta for October for a long weekend for our 25th Anniversary, first time to Malta and also first time abroad on our own.
We are staying in St Paul’s bay- any recommendations please.

Visit Valleta and if you have the time Mdina

Mdina is spectacular and, as said a visit to Valletta is a must.

Thanks, does anyone know what taxi costs are like, the hotel offers a courtesy bus to bugibbba but want to try see Valletta as above?

Taxis wouldn’t be too much, but each time we’ve been we’ve rented a car, it makes it so much easier to get around.

Sliema is just around the bay from Valletta and has a good food scene and plenty of bars etc.

Another place worth a visit is Mosta, more so the Mosta dome.

You are staying quite far out though, it would be worth considering renting a car...don’t let the 40mph speed limit and driving on the left fool you, they’re all crazy!

The fish restaurants round the bay are good, agree that you may find hiring a car to get around more easily

Thanks for the replies. Only done fri-mon as got a good deal and hope now i haven’t booked the wrong area. DH drives up and down the country with work so wasn’t looking to hire a car. Is there good transport links if we get to Buggiba? It’s a chill out trip but want to try and sightsee as well. We are staying in Salini Resort hotel.

Mellieha is the best beach on the island and just a short bus journey from where you are staying. Lovely church there on the hill too.

Along with the other recommendations, try to visit Dingli Cliffs and also St Peters Pool (Marsaxlokk). There is a bus service to the cliffs which stops right outside the restaurant there.
