Standard pricing for the taxes on a BA avios flight.
Summer hols and xmas are the only time it’s remotely worth using avios in economy.
I’d keep an eye out for any deals for cash prices, as you can then keep the avios and save up for club world or first. It’s only a small fee to cancel them.

It’ll be economy.
Isn’t the OP going late July into August? Not sure why you’ve priced those dates, they’re outside the school holidays so not a fair comparison.

Hmm we’ve been looking into doing this but we only paid £437 each for 23 days flydrive this summer holidays. I’m worried that we’re collecting points for no reason now 😫

I have come to the conclusion with avios it’s about doing whatever you are happy with and not worrying too much about what others think or do with them.
We have used them in the past a few times for very cheap car hire, which we were happy with.
We also used them last year along with our bogof voucher for 2 return flights to Los Angeles and 9 nights accommodation in Palm Springs for £900 for the two of us for an amazing break in November. We were very happy with that.
I now have enough saved up for 2 x business class flights to the west coast along with my bogof voucher ( Amex) which I intend to use may 2021 for my dh 50th and we will be very happy with that as well.
Anything I have left over or saved up again will be used for however we think will make us happy.
