I know this is v difficult. When my dad was diagnosed he had 2 daughters still at home so were v involved then myself and my brother (from his first marriage ) grown up moved away. I am living in the north of Scotland with my dad in London. I found out over the phone via my brother about a week or so after the diagnosis. I can really appreciate way my sisters and step mum (who were in shock) did not feel up to to phoning my brother and I at the time, but did feel a little "out of the loop" mainly because obviously I wanted to see him and needed to plan this sort things at work. I also went to Disney with my kids a few days after I found out (he wanted us to go and would have been v upset had I not taken my kids- it was our first trip) which meant I went without seeing him so a somewhat worrying holiday! I would tell her over the phone if that is the only option so she can decide what she wants to do next. She will feel v left out if you don't tell her soon.
