Mobile Taking tea bags

Just had a thought can I take tea bags in my hold luggage into the USA?

If yes do I have to declare them ?

Yes and there is no where to declare them any more but you wouldn't need to if there was!

Although there is no longer a form to declare them if asked at immigration you do have to declare them

We have asked this previously over tea and coffee and they have just laughed! I think they are looking for larger things than tea and coffee! Or products that can carry infections or diseases! They never even asked us last year!

We took [apparent] 'non-declarables' for years, so didn't advise/declare, then got a tug for not declaring coffee... perhaps the IO was right or a jobsworth, whichever, I now declare all - we're importing consumables into the US, it's not much to gain approval by declaring, only takes a few seconds to reel off what we're importing.

Just be sure to keep them in their original sealed wrapping and declare if asked.

I’ve never taken them in the original wrapping - I just take some in a ziploc bag but have always declared them when asked.
