My mom passed away
I've been a Dibber since my dad died 8 years ago and mom said "Let's go to Disney one last time" (see box at bottom of post
 )My mom died last week at age 94. Our last Disney visit was for her 90th birthday and if we could have afforded to fly first class we would have gone every year since but the airport and plane got to be too difficult for her. Anyway she was 'happy' to leave this life IYKWIM. She was always a really energetic and active lady and not having any more fun once she couldn't get out of the house any more. So funeral and wake on Thursday will be a fun party with Disney theme and cocktails. Thanks to everyone who has made helpful comments in the past when I have made queries on her behalf. (Especially Mr Morrow who I know had many of the same problems to solve with your mother in the past) Now I need to find a person who wants to accompany me to Disney..'one last time'...

I am so very sorry to hear your sad news... right on top of Christmas as well.
I lost my mum at 90 3 years ago and know that it is a very difficult time. I know exactly what you mean about ready to leave ... my mum was the same and the last 6 months of her life were problematic to say the least. A lovely idea for her funeral and wake ...I'm sure she would have approved  Always cherish your mum's memory but do try and let go of and not dwell on some of the stress and bad times ...easier said than done i know. I'm sure a lot of us on here have a good deal of understanding about the strain of an elderly parent with health problems made worse by often a struggle not only with them but the NHS behemoth and their idea of care ! Not something I was ever prepared for and the situation regarding care and support for the old was a completely horrendous shock to me  Take care x
