Off the top of my head it was around $60 for the night which secured 2 days of free parking at the parks too!

Remember that it no longer gives you the 60day rolling FP, you only get the 60days access for the day you check in and the day you check out. Then beyond those 2 days it reverts to 30days. This change was made by Disney at end of February, closing the loophole that allowed you to book FP days at 60 after the Disney stay ended.

Offering perks such as 60 day fastpass is one way of doing it.

Yes, it's frustrating if you stay off site and can't get what you want, but if they take away the 60 day advantge to onsite guests, there will still be the same total number of fastpasses being fought for by the same people and the same number of disappointed people. Unfortunately there is no reason for Disney to "be more amenable to offsite guests". It is what it is.
I agree, some people think of Disney as being this lovely happy place and almost forget that ultimately it's a business and motivated by profit. They're never going to keep fastpasses back to allocate for guests that are paying less. They actively promote the 60 day booking window as a perk for spending more money with them.

You're unlikely to be able to book the headliner attractions at 30days. But keep checking regularly as they do pop up, same for the harder to get ADRs.

Worth knowing that they closed that loophole!

We almost always stay onsite but decided to try a villa over the summer. The throwaway room helped a lot in getting some of the harder fastpasses.

Yes we did get MagicBands (they were also running the free Toy story bands offer with any 14 day ticket purchased so we picked them up from DS rather than trekking over to the camping ground to collect the resort ones!)

Interesting, did you not go to the campground at all to check in?
