Trying to work out the best combination

Can someone help please?

I am trying to figure out (if free dining comes out for next year) what the cheapest way of doing it is?

So I def want the DDP, a first time for me to do this as a solo traveller but inspired by those at sit downs on their own

Question is, is it cheaper to stay at a basic hotel and upgrade, or stay moderate and upgrade or stay at deluxe where it would already be included?

Thank you

When (if) Disney release free dining for next year, you just need to do the maths to work it out.

I know, but was just seeing who had done this and how it worked for them with whatever way they booked it all

TBH it's being a "Solo" that throws it out a bit, the more people to upgrade dining then the better deal by upgrading the hotel IYKWIM as the room cost doesn't change with the number of guests.

Being on your own you may find the cheapest value and upgrading is the cheaper option. You could probably do some kind of dummy booking now and assume the free breakfast is worth around £12.99 a day. You also have to take into account that moderates and above usually come with a $200 gift card.

TBH as a solo traveller you might find that a room discount is better value for you, the gamble is, if it is available.

I haven’t done it but I have looked.

There is no way that booking a deluxe for free DDP is going to be cheaper than booking a value or moderate and upgrading. The dining plan upgrade is going to cost about £18 per night if you upgrade from a moderate and about £45 per night if you upgrade from a value hotel.

The room price difference will be much greater than that, maybe about £150 between a deluxe and a moderate and say £250 between a value and a deluxe. If you had four people in the room and four dining packages to upgrade, then it increases the odds that booking the deluxe would make most financial sense, for a solo I would imagine that the value and upgrading the plan will be most economical, but you will have to compare (especially between moderate and value) when prices come out.
