Mobile DIY drain help

I’ve come here before with housing problems and you’ve always come up trumps for me so here goes again!

We’ve recently moved into our new home. In our utility room there is a kind of “drainy” smell. We initially thought it was the cupboard under the sink which we ripped out and replaced and it definitely did smell, had a previous leak as it was rotten and smells a lot better. However there is no water leaking and the smell is intermittent but more prominent when a shower has been running as the pipes run behind the wall internally of the utility room. There are 3 bathrooms feeding off these pipes. 3 showers and a bath. I have poured bleach down each drain. There are no smells coming from the 3 bathrooms themselves just in the utility room.

Before calling in professionals anybody have any ideas?

I agree, start at the manhole and work back. No soil or waste pipe should emit any smell unless it’s leaking. The sinks may but not the pipes.

My son had this and the pipe blocked one day
He is in a flat and we discovered they haven’t put a good fall ( angle ) on the waste pipe so water sits in the pipe
We unblocked it but we need to lift the toilet and sort it
Shoddy work from the previous owners plumber

Is your washing machine in there? We had a smell and it was where the washer pipe goes in the drain it did t have a proper seal between the 2 pipes.
