Alamo again. Even booking through Holiday Autos (via TopCashback) they booked us in with Alamo twice. So, we've been exclusively Alamo for the past 5 trips and have booked them again.

It's their lack of pressure selling to get you to upgrade plus the fact that the last two times we've been given a great free upgrade. Plus, I ran out of money in November and told them when we were checking the car back in that they'd have to charge my CC as a result and the guy very kindly put it through as 'nil to pay'.

I will never hire through Dollar again - they ripped us off big time back in 2008. Budget used to be good, but they were slow and did the pressure sales thing, plus we weren't happy with their car stock.

Hertz - we've always had nice cars and no hard sell. Last time they even dropped us off at the termnal to get our flight home after we'd returned the car.

Dollar

We had a bad experience last trip with Budget where we waited over an hour with only a couple of staff on counter. Didn't get to pick car either.

Interesting poll results so far.

I wonder if Alamo didn't have a 'pick your own car' option if the results would be totally different? I think so.
Probably Dollar would be bottom though

I agree the main benifit is of course you can choose your car with alamo Ive used budget on 2 previous trips and had no problem with them so they would be my second choice. I have used dollar way back in 99 as part of a virgin package holiday and we had to replace the car after hurricane Floyd and although the replacement car was same make/model it was a much more basic model

I'm with you there geoffa. This is my first time as a preferred customer though so keeping fingers crossed that it is as easy as just going to garage and picking it up.
