aligaitor question

now i read last week in a mag about crystal river manatee swims which we would like to do next time but a little voice in my head is saying if its in a river surely there will be aligaitors but i know they wouldn't do tours where theres going to be aligaitors - would they

All I'd say is that if there were Alligators then there's no need to worry as

a) They don't eat Manatees as a rule

b) They won't attack unless provoked


I'd drop them an e-mail with your concerns as "belt & braces" to see what info they come back with.

This is also something that has been worrying me.

DH has said that he would like us to do this in Sept but all i can think is that there will definately be alligators or at least snakes. I certainly don't "do" snakes.

I would be interested to see what responses you get.

we hired a pontoon boat last november and swam in the crystal river with the manatees.I was very concerned about gators as we had three children with us,but the guy who rented us the boat assured us there were no gators.We did see 2 dolphins a racoon and a big blue crab.
I would do it all again,it was excellent

Is the river tidal and perhaps salt water? I think alligators only go in fresh water.

Oh and for those who do not do snakes - its the snakes that do you!
