Exclamation Chef Mickey Food issues?

Was talking to a fellow WDW addict tonight about what ADR's I've booked & while most of them got met with "how lovely/it's so good there" when I mentioned Chef Mickeys she began telling me about how horrible it is & how many people have ended up with food poisoning from the food.

We have a breakfast booked there 2 days before we fly home & I'm now I'm worried we've made the wrong choice. Last thing I want is for anyone to be ill & especially not for it to ruin our last few days.

Should I change it to another breakfast or can anyone put my mind at rest?

We went this trip for brunch and tbh I wouldnt go again. There are so many other better character breakfasts at WDW. The food selection was poor and the characters really rushed. It was also the most expensive meal of our holiday.

Never been but if you have young children I'm sure it's a winner. Our friends did quite a few character meals and said Chef Mickeys was just like any other buffet and that it's good for fussy children so I'm sure it's fine. I've not read a single trip report where someone's been ill after eating there.

I had delicious breakfast there last month! We just fancied breakfast one morning and there was ADR but we were all so pleasantly surprised!

I mainly had natural yoghurt with a lot of fruit but sampled few other things and the guys (husband and son) ate everything else and we all left very happy

There was lovely melon salad with chopped fresh mint dressing - so nice! Also strawberries, grapefruit & orange, grapes, bananas - plenty of choice.

Sorry can't comment on cooked food but it had the edge in terms of freshness to Tusker House and we all loved it

I have few pics of food that I may post later

fruit was much fresher at Chef Mickeys! I know not many go to a buffet to load up on fruit but grapes were tastier, there were more options and it was just so fresh.

We were also given proper orange juice compered to the rubbish you get at Tuskers house. Our service was also better, why quick they offered more coffee and juice as needed and told us to take our time and enjoy the meal

As 'food' is an essential ingredient to catch food poisoning, then by definition, you could get this at Chef Mickey or indeed any other restaurant that you might eat at, in the UK or anywhere in the world. Also any fast food outlet.

If this really troubles you, then you should avoid eating food that you have not hygenically prepared yourself.

Personally I prefer not to do this, particularly on holiday.

We've done chef mickeys quite a few times as it is a real favourite with my two boys. It's usually noisy and busy but I don't mind that at all. We've always found the character interaction great and he good very nice. It's not signature dining by any means, but it's not meant to be. We would happily return

We had dinner at Chef Mickey's last year and we're going back again next year. It does seem to get a lot of criticism, but we enjoyed it. I've never heard of people getting food poisoning from eating there and I would hope there would be some sort of investigation if that was the case! People's opinions on restaurants differ so much that if I was in your shoes I would just go for breakfast and judge for myself 😊.
