If you can get by without the express passes I would totally recommend Cabana Bay. It’s a lovely resort, great pools, rooms are a good size, very clean etc and you can get a pretty good deal on the rooms. But it’s not as nice as RPR or Hard Rock (we’ve stayed at those but not Portofino Bay). The kids loved the lazy river, but we didn’t try the other pool, I think they have more activities on there.

Early entry is good and I think if you are early risers you can get most of the park done before you really need express passes. Walking along to Volcano Bay was great, we always think it’s a faff going to a water park after the normal park and generally can’t be bothered tying changed loading up the car, or getting a bus, but a couple of minutes walk and you are in! Brilliant!

I’d recommend setting up payment facilities on the Universal app so you can charge via your Tapu Tapu - that way you don’t even need a locker as no valuables with you.

Brilliant first day. Cabana bay looks wonderful. We have it booked for our “cough cough” cheapie trip next year, can’t wait now
