We walk everywhere so like to stay in Midtown. Close to ESB & MSG is our favourite location. You are also close to Broadway and walking distance to Times Square, Central Park etc. We also walk down to the financial District but that is quite a walk.

We steer clear of Times Square as it’s so busy, we prefer to walk up there once, and then leave!

There are some hotels that have great suites for the price of a tiny room near Times Square (The Stewart, The Shelburne, The Dumont to name a few).

I haven’t been for a while, I was supposed to go last month and would have been staying near Central Park. When I used to visit regularly (some work, some pleasure) I tended to be around 50th and Park Avenue / Madison Avenue or 5th.

I am another that would avoid Times Square.

We were supposed to be staying at the Hotel Beacon, upper west side last week. They do suites which is useful for a family of 4 as our dds would of stayed in the living room. It also has a kitchenette and a market over the road which I thought would be really useful.

We’ve got flights booked for October (moved from May) and will probably still go there if we choose to go. I did quite a bit of research on here and the Hotel Beacon was recommended a few times and has good trip advisor reviews.

We stayed here too a few years ago. Easy walk to Times Square up Broadway, Macy's is just along the road too.
We'd definitely stay here again

We've stayed at Hilton Times Sq 42nd st and Room Mate Grace just off TS. Would go back to either of these, we love being in the heart of it. I would also consider Midtown around ESB/34th st if the price difference was worth it. I know a few people who love to stay/return to the New Yorker, the location is convenient, near Penn Station.

Enjoy planning your trip

We usually stay in Long Island City, subway stops near by takes 10/15 mins to tourist locations in Manhattan and the amount saved in hotel costs allowed us more spending money. Its not for everyone but its ideal for us.

We stayed at the Westin Grand Central, Nov 2018. Great location, 5 min walk to Grand Central, Bryant Park, our room had a great view of the Chrysler Building, it was quiet enough for us and near enough bars/restaurants and walkable to Times Sq etc, we used the Subway loads to get around. The hotel had no resort fees either which was a big bonus for us, we booked through Virgin Holidays in the Feb that year. We were due to go again in Nov for thanksgiving with the kids but unlikely to happen now.

I stayed at We Work on Wall Street. It was really very good. Just as needed we all had bedrooms, plus living area and bath rooms. Just ideal. Good safe spot. And easy to get to.
