Looking For The Mouse 2016 Gill Family Trip Report ( Travel Day )

Well the day is here! Boys slept reasonably well even though they were super excited. Brad woke at 2am for around an hour but he fell back to sleep eventually. We had the premier inn breakfast at 7am but none of us could really each much as we were so excited! Lots of people in there wearing mickey T-shirts!

We left for the airport at 8:15 Spencer's wearing a special hidden disability lanyard gatwick gave us which he likes and may be helpful.

We whizzed through premium security thanks to virgin providing this for us... Nobody beeped for a change. Found the kids play area upstairs and Bradley had fun in there whilst spencer and I fetched sandwiches and water for the flight

Boys enjoy some iPad time but Spencer's anxious about missing the flight with his earphones on bless him. I have reassured him lots I will let him know once it's time to go we still have 45 mins for a gate announcement.

Well the flight was so comfy and easy. The kids were great. I have been very anxious about this flight as last holiday Spencer literally screamed the place down on landing ( literally! ) his ears hurt so bad and he can't cope well with pain. So this trip we came prepared with this device called ear popper. It cost me £85 but if it worked it would be well worth it I thought.
Well I gave him calpol an hour and a half before landing and yes his ears did start to hurt but we used this machine 6 or so times in landing and wow it was amazing, he remained calm and happy. Such a relief after last time. Yay result!

So this is a stock photo of immigration LOl no photos allowed there. So we got off the plane last...nightmare of being at the back and the queues were longer than our two hour wait last trip. The hall was full and most of the corridor too.
I went up and found a man and told him I had an autistic child with us and he directed us straight to the front! Wow what a relief! Spencer really wouldn't have coped with that wait, they were so accommodating ❤️❤️❤️ we were through in 5 mins max.
Once off our bags were off straight away after first class due to gatwick putting disabled tags on. 😍 (thank you VA)
We declared our food so did a quick second bag check. Then saw Peter Andre again looking very confused at second bag drop ! I felt like shouting across the room Pete don't do it! How funny,
We made it up the escalators ok, into the parking lot without a hitch. Wow this trips been the easiest most stress free ever!

Poor intermediate SUV selection 😳 our bags didn't fit

Luckily this jeep came in and we took it as our stuff fit in just!

Fantastic so far I'll be reading later when you are there. Have a wonderful trip and well done on the celeb spotting 😀,
Our youngest daughter has autism and we fly from Manchester they have a wristband scheme there ( they are similar to the charity wristbands you can but nowadays ) and staff trained to recognise them... So simple and so helpful glad you found the same experience with the lanyard.

Peter was on our gatwick flight to Orlando haha thought he may be and I saw him again looking confused at second bag drop... was so tempted to shout Peter don't do it! Will keep my eye out for him and the kids at the parks 😀 sorry for lack of further pics tonight! I have taken all the photos and will update tomorrow when I'm feeling more alive ! We had the best flight though, amazing result at immigration, a poor car choice and have a lovely experience so far at AOA.
