Random question about sofas?!

Hi all,

I’m getting ready to order some new furniture and I was all set to order a three seater sofa with three seat cushions, but I think they must be discontinuing the size, as now my preferred fabric isn’t an option.

It appears they’ve replaced the three seater with a larger four seater sofa, but this has only got two seat cushions.

My question is, do you find with these large sofas that guests only sit where there is a cushion for them, rather than sharing one ?

I ask because we currently have a corner sofa, and whilst it definitely will seat five easily, guests seem to avoid the corner bit, as if they haven’t got a ‘designated’ seat and then tend to pull up one of our dining room chairs instead!

Weird question I know, but I don’t see the point in buying a bigger sofa, if in reality only two people will ever sit on it, I might as well get a smaller two seater one, and a chair! Just wondering what you thought?!

We have a large corner sofa as you describe. I find that close family will share a cushion or the corner but friends round for coffee won't! So I guess it depends on who you will have round. Our grown up kids and their 3 cousins all just pile on to the corner like a litter of puppies! Hope that helps!

We have a 4 seater and a 3 seater and if we have several people in, they do sit on it ie 4 people. I would say, make sure it will fit in your front door ok. When we had ours delivered, it wouldn’t go in so they brought it round the back and brought it in our conservatory doors. They said the number of ‘failed’ deliveries was obscene.

We have a 3 seater which has two cushions. Only two will sit on it. No one ever sirs on the join.

We have a two seater and always get two on it.

We also have a large corner one that easily sits 4/5 and we only get two unless kids climb in the corner.

I'd now only buy one with no cushions/divides or with the same number of cushions as seats.

We have a 3 seater sofa with 2 cushions and generally only 2 will sit on it, its a bit of a pain really!

We have a three seater and a four seater, only two people ever sit in each

We have a 2 seater and a 3 seater with 3 cushions, and usually only 2 sit on each.People seem to prefer the floor!

8 seater & people only sit one per cushion so end up sitting on floor cushions.

Thank you everyone - that’s confirmed my suspicions, don’t think I’ll bother with a massive four seater that it reality only two people will sit on then! Lol! 👍
