Iceland- I’m unexpectedly impressed.

I have to say I had never been here, I think her with the drug problem who said Mum’s Gone to Iceland put me off.

However I recently started seeing what they had in, and have been impressed with the quality of the food.

Anyone else find it good? A lot of the stuff seems as nice as M&S, albeit frozen.

I like the Slimming World meals, I’m not in a diet or anything but they are very nice and healthy, particularly the curries and a great size.

Their higher end pizzas, the rectangle ones, are lovely.

I really like the chicken pakora nugget things.

Many of the ready meals I have had have been v good.

I just got some Italian meals, by that fella on the TV with the over exaggerated Italian accent who burgled Paul Young’s house, forget his name also but his meatballs are good

I agree YT, DW has had the SW meals which were really good. Their chunky cod fillets are first class beautifully flakey and very thick.

Hash brown fries and skin-on fries are lovely.

But please don't ever be tempted to buy a frozen Turkey crown at xmas after my dreadful experience last year.

I find it's variable quality to be honest. Sometimes the items will be kinda large in size but lacking in substance. So pizzas with little topping, ready meals with little meat kinda thing.

That said some of the things they do are really good. The breaded chicken goujons (hot and spicy for me, garlic for the kids). Prawn tempura. Greggs pasties, and the cod, breaded mushrooms etc and chopped veg are all handy staples. I often find the fresh produce reasonable too especially the cheese/dairy, but veg less so.

Good to hear SW meals are good and the rectangle 🍕, will have a look at these next time.

It's the other side of town to me so proximity has a role. I would have to walk past ASDAs and lidls and Sainsbury. Is it worth the shoe leather for a full shop?

We like a lot of their veggie products. I’m also a fan of their frozen cod loin, lovely cut and cooks well. They also do a smoked haddock loin which is great but I’ve not seen it for a while. We use their ‘Food Warehouse’ outlets which carry much the same range as the in town store but has free parking!

I don't buy much frozen food tbh, but I do like their macarons... may pick some up on Sunday. We also do the end of month artisan market but 6 for £5 or 2 boxes from iceland for that! the flavours are quite good. simple but nice!
