Whats it like in August?
Has anyone been to Disney in August/September Holidays. we have have just been the first two weeks of November and it was brilliant.
But next time we go my grandson will be at school. What are the que times like? We had rides 10-30 mins. Would love to go in 2021 but its the 50th Anniversery so planning for 2020. What other times are good without taking children out of school?

Hot wet and busy needs careful planning and you will queue if you want to do lots of the big rides

We always go at this time due to working in education. I cope well with the heat and so actually don’t mind being there at this time of year. Plus it gives us time to stay longer than the two weeks so can (if we choose to) go at a more relaxed pace.
I suggest making use of the jet lag in the first few days and head out early before leaving in the early afternoon when it gets hot. Plenty of rest/drinks etc. And go at child’s pace. How old is the child? Even though he’s probably too old for a stroller/pushchair at home, maybe consider one for the parks if planning on staying all day. Gives weary legs a rest in the heat. Check out the busy day guide to see which days are predicted to be quietest to help with planning. Those are just some suggestions I can think of off the top of my head. Hope that helps.☺️ |

We went August last year as DD is a teacher, previously been May, June, September and October, thought it would be similar to June temperature wise - how wrong I was, between 2 and 5 in the afternoon it is baking hot. Not many rides will have a queue of 10 minutes, but you can do many in 20-30 if you keep an eye on the ride time app. Some really big ones we had to bite the bullet and queue for over an hour (pandora was fairly new still, couldnt get fast passes), use fast passes wisely - once you have used all 3 you can jump on the app and book more. If you do need to go in August, go from the 2nd week on, alternatively do you have a 2 week half term in october?

We generally go the last 2-3 weeks in August into early Sept. It is slightly quieter at the end of August we find.
As others have said it's very hot and humid. We plan well and factor in mid afternoon down time as the parks are open till very late so it can be very long days. Our DS is older so we aren't stuck to a certain routine so we go out early- eat about 11am then do more rides then head back to hotel for a couple of hours and then head back out again. We have cooling towels which are useful and tend to walk everywhere via the airconditioned shops 😂

We are stuck with the school holidays for breaks so whenever we go to disney we normally go the first two weeks of August.
It will be hot and humid with a very good chance of thunderstorms every afternoon. We like to hit the parks early and then we can come away mid afternoon for a swim and cool down, then possibly go back to the parks in the evening. With good use of the FP+ system we can generally do all the rides we want to in a day, queues will be quite long, we won't queue if it's over 45 mins. If we cannot get a FP+ for any of the big rides in each park we tend to do these when either fireworks or shows are on as the queue's come down a bit. |

We went in September for the first time this year. The crowd level was fine as US schools would have been long back by then and US make up most of the visitors.
It was really hot and humid though, we had to change how we usually do our days i.e. we did less park hopping and took breaks or had meals in the middle of the day to avoid heat. There wasn't much rain though. |

I’ve been April May October and last year we went in August mid to end. It is very hot. But we managed fine. Don’t rush around and lots of water.

Yes it's hot but that's manageable if you are prepared. The main thing is to stay hydrated and out of the sun when possible.
We found the storms the most disruptive part of the trip. The lightning can be scary! We got absolutely drenched a few times. At least they only last an hour or so. |

It is hot humid and often thunder and lightening in the afternoon. However you can manga it with some planning. a few times we were caught out not being able to swim in the afternoons due to nearby lightening. We also usually book a midday table service restaurant to escape the heat for an hour. We find we cannot do a full day- usually early to early afternoon break and then back later if we have the energy.
