Now you have got me confused .( not picking on you by the way , just intrigued )
So London and the Home Counties, which are in the South East , are ‘ down south’
But Manchester and Liverpool even though they are in the ‘ North west ‘ are not ‘ up north ‘ ?
How does that work ?

That is the most bizarre comment. . I am Mancunian, I also lived in Liverpool for six years, I can assure you that the north west is in the north, hence the “north” in “north west”!

Anyone living in either place would call themselves a northerner. It isn’t a matter of perspective, it is fact, there are nine official regions in England, North West is one of them and again the clue is in the name...

Unfortunately it sounds about right. The North West of England is pretty much ignored as a region by most !
To me south of Cheshire is Midlands and south of Birmingham is South.
If we are going off the geographical central of Great Britain ( not including islands) though I am right in the middle.

I’m not particularly political but I just see a lack of investment especially away from the cities of Manchester and Liverpool, the poverty in many areas, spending cuts, travelling on 40 year old pacer trains which belong in a museum.

I’m not quite understanding this either. You don’t consider Manchester and Merseyside to be North but not necessarily South? Are you saying that you consider this to be the Midlands?
BTW - Wales is a country!
